Driftwood Tree

Isaac is drilling out the crown of our driftwood tree.

Here he is putting on the finishing touch.

Here is our driftwood tree ready for decorations.
We are planning on making decorations out of drift wood and other found object through
out the year.  I will show you the ornaments as we get them made.

Yeah! You guys did it! Nice job.
OK, now you have me thinking about what kind of ornaments would look cool on the tree : )
Great job Isaac!

I LOVE this tree! So arty! Your son is a doll and an artist too.
Do I see the ocean across the street in the background?
Merry Christmas, this tree will last through the years. Just wonderful.

It was a lot of fun. I saw one on someone else's blog so it wasn't my original idea. They put little candles on it. It was really pretty. I am afraid with all the wind we get here on the coast it would be a challenge to light them all.
Isaac is a lot of fun to work with. He is so witty and we laugh a lot together.

This has to be the coolest christmas tree I've ever seen. I live too far away from the coast to be able to pick up enough driftwood, but it has inspired me to make a tree for next year out of something that would otherwise be discarded.

That is a fantastic idea Fearless Threader. The university had an exhibit in their gallery to highlight all the thing that were floating in the ocean...I think there is enough to make an island. They made huge sculptures out of it.

Later that year someone made a driftwood fish. I would like to do that but I am not sure how to make an armature...so if someone has done this and would like to hold my hand...in answering questions, I would really appreciate it. I have boys that have done black smithing and wielding, so I am sure this is not outside our abilities.
