Winston's Stocking

I cross stitched this for Winston when he was an infant...but didn't get it finished till he was 3.

We were living in Oregon and so I thought a Douglas Fir would make a good motif for the back.

Beautiful! Love the new header.
The stocking is wonderful. I know what it takes to stitch up something like that. I worked on a needlepoint picture for my oldest daughter for several years!

I love these stockings. Thanks also for visiting my site. I notice that you are interested in the Tarot. I have the Zen Tarot deck and love doing it with friends or with my daughter.

warmly,
Erika

What beautiful intricate work. Sweet that you found time with baby to complete this work of art.
Merry Christmas.

I have the Zen Tarot also.
There is a lot of insight and a totally different perspective in that deck. I think that if God spoke in only one voice the devil would imitate it and deceive many. So God has spread his wisdom around and that way maybe a few will find their way. The autobiography of Pearl Buck influenced my thinking a lot in this regard.
I am pretty much a novice when it comes to the Tarot. I have enjoyed learning the symbolism of the Thoth Deck. To me the symbols/stories are universal just told on point, rather than masked.
I don't think that the Tarot is a fortune telling device. I think it is a revealing device that simply brings to light things that you might have not examined. It causes you to change your paradigm.
But there was a time when I was deathly scared of the Tarot. So it is kinda strange for me to write about this. I am originally from the Bible Belt. I have moved around a lot and shed a lot of skin as a result.

Lynn, that is what I thought...But I thought if I don't get this done before he can walk it will never get done. So that is why I got the cross stitch done the first year but it took a couple more years to get the back and put it together. I guess I just didn't feel I had the ability to concentrate before.
