Vision Calendar

My word for 2010 is IMPROVEMENTS.
After looking at Erika's Vision Calendar
I noticed the prayer flags in the window.
I wanted a Vision Calendar that would some how be able to be worked in fabric.
I decided to make mine look like a this because our intentions for the year seem just a prayer.
I wanted a word that would convey something forward but also a word that would not be so big that I might feel overwhelmed by it's greatness and my smallness.
IMPROVEMENTS came to me in a couple different ways, and since it is twelve letters I thought it was perfect.
Each flag has the month of the year on it.  I am thinking of doing these in a 'snail cloth' way that will reflect what I have improved over that month.

This is my table where I am working on carving linoleum stamps.
I am hoping to improve in making more lino cuts this year!!

Oh, thanks for sharing this, Becky. I love the idea and also love prayer flags. Still haven't gotten to my ATC's. Things have been moving very fast here but hopefully will settle down soon and I can get back to my art and other creative pursuits.

love,
Erika

Mmmnnn, thanks for visiting me and I'm so glad to return the favour. Your work is lovely and inspirational. I have been thinking of some new prayer flags for my garden, so was happy to see your version. "Improvements" is a great word to work with - lots of space.

By the way, regarding your question about the thread I used for the kanthas, it was regular DMC floss. I varied the number of strands for different effects.

Oh, I like your idea very much! And I love prayer flags. I think putting the idea of prayer into each letter is just so lovely. I, too, feel overwhelmed by all that I feel that I need to do, and the word "improvement" does seem to bring things into scale a little bit. Thank you!! xo Kari

Look forward to sharing my flags with you one by one as the year progresses.

I think the idea of a prayer flag is so clever for your vision cloth!
Also, what a perfect spot for your crafting. A room with a view. Nice.
